I went for Macro lecture today! *gasp* The 2nd time in the entire semester and the sem's ending in a couple of weeks 0.o Well, it just striked me yesterday that I rarely see my friends because I don't have the same tutorials with them and lectures are the only chance I have to meet them. So I went today. 'Tis a well-known fact in the faculty (Bizad's a big faculty but since everyone's taking the same classes, everyone's bound to recognize everyone sooner or later) that the Indonesians always sit in one whole row together in every lecture. We're all girls. We always sit in the center row, a bit to the front. We have some non-Indonesians joining us, sometimes. Val (who's a Filipino), Anne (who's a Thai) and John (who's a Taiwanese and a GUY!) but we consider them more of less one of us LOL. Some other lecture room demography facts : Causasian exchange students always sit in the center row way in front of us, the Vietnamese somewhere near us, the Mauritians and Indians on either of the side rows, Singaporeans and Malaysians are usually behind us on the back rows. Not that people are sort of segregating themselves, it's just something natural to sit with the people you know better and we *do* hang out with other people outside lecture rooms (like when we're doing projects together ^_^). Anyway, needless to say, people were shocked to see me come today. ("GASP! I haven't seen you for the WHOLE semester!!!!") I think it's time to change ZS layout. Actually, the appropriate term is to do an overhaul on it. It will take a long time, yes, but I'm thinking of a way to make the process as fast and as painless as possible. I'm also trying to find an idea on the layout. Has any of you notice the common trend in RK websites? I don't surf other RK websites very often, but I do check out my referrers and most of them actually look alike. (I get a lot of DB websites as my referrers too, I don't know why... what's the link between RK and DB? And surprisingly, the DB websites' trend is similar to the RK ones'). For one, table is the most popular format. Images are usually located on the top, usually a collage of several different images. The style is usually a bit futuristic with many lines and box-y shapes. They usually use only one color, eg. blue, but with different shade variations of it. Navigational menus are usually on the left, made out of graphic images with rectangular shapes. During one night of surfing them, I confused one with another. At one point I even wondered whether they're all made by the same person. The contents are pretty similar too, but I think that's rather inevitable. How do I make ZS look different from the rest? *ponders* For one thing, I can't escape from my frames. I'd rather die than adding table codes into 100+ files again. My regular anime supplier has updated his collection with YnM 6, FB 5, and Shaman King 4. *crows happily and starts copying* I just -love- him. If I knew who he is in real life, I'd gush my appreciation all over him when I do get to meet him. LOL. I only know which hall he lives in and which faculty he is from (not mine!) I'm being hyper today, I know. I'm blaming it on an all-night festival of watching Dharma & Greg episodes, my faithfull canned of Nescafe, Bebop songs, and my Vivaldi CDs @.@ Off to watch anime now! hyper hyper hyper on Thursday, October 18, 2001, 03:22 p.m. Well Talent Time was a success. You'd be amazed to see how many talented people we have here in our hall. I feel .... demoralized. I don't think I have an exceptional talent :( *sigh* Anyway, our block's item, which is Lion King's Circle of Life complete with bucket-percussion, harmonica and saxophone, didn't go very well but we had fun and that's what most important. The small choir (ie, me and 7 other people who sang the chord/harmony part) went derangedly offkey. But no one was listening anyway (except our conductor! :P). With our crash practices, it's not unexpected, though. We've been telling ourselves before the performance that we might probably end up singing one voice, although there were supposed to be 5 ^_^;; LOL. The winner for the group competition was C block, who put up a dance medley featuring a strip-tease guy, Michael Jackson's Moonwalk, and Britney Spears' Hit Me Baby One More Time. 0.o All the group performances were amazing, though. The winner for the solo performance is the guy who lives right above me, the violinist who used to wake me up from my afternoon nap XD XD XD Yeah, I found out who the mystery violinist is, FINALLY. Accidentally, the Enterprise were selling bubble tea throughout the entire event and um, I got myself two cups, one before and one after. I feel so full. I feel so fat (it's the milk!). I've been getting a bit err... plumper lately and I need to watch what I'm eating. And exercise. Oh yeah, exercise. I guess sitting in front of the computer is not much of an exercise XD F2s.com is down >_< And I'm having difficulty to d/l Cowboy Bebop songs from AudioGalaxy. Some of the Cowboy Bebop songs couldn't be downloaded due to copyright issues, which is strange, because usually Jap songs (esp anime songs) don't have this kind of protection. Anyway, songs that are bugging my mind now (not Circle of Life, thankfully!) : Bebop Movie ost's Pushing The Sky ("Don't wanna be the one to pop your cherry, girl..." - seriously, Bebop songs' lyrics are a bit on the bad-taste side sometimes, but the music still rawks XD), Shawn Colvin's Never See a Blue Like That (I didn't know Shawn Colvin was a woman *gasp!* I'm so out of touch with the music world, I know - during Cultural Nite, the Inspire people sang this song and I fell in love with it when listening to them rehearsing while hanging around in the backstage), and Utada Hikaru's Final Distance.
Catherine kindly told me that in Summer moon I wrote "Summer Rain" instead of "Summer Moon" a couple of times. Whoops. I honestly don't know what got into me. Maybe because it rains almost everyday nowadays LOL. Thanks for telling me, dear!
Tomorrow's my free day but I have project meetings from 10 am to possibly 6 pm >_< Tasuketeeeeee.... Thankfully, school will be over in another week and a half. So next week, the last week, will be my deadline week (or rather, DEATHweek) with 3 projects, 1 assignment and 2 presentations o.0 Must do research and prepare for tomorrow now. Oh damn, my blockhead just icq-ed us to remind us about the senior's supper tomorrow where I'm supposed to make a mudpie. It's an easy thing, but I have to prepare it hours before the supper and I don't think I have time *frown* I have the hall production publicity push from 6 pm onwards. Errrkkk.............. *frown frown frown* never saw blue like that before.... on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, 11:00 p.m. I -LOVE- Cowboy Bebop Knockin' on Heaven's Door!!! @.@ Sure, it's a typical anime movie, meaning it has no *deep* plot and mainly features action. But whoa, the action scenes are so cool (the soundtrack really helps to enhance them, though. Yay for Yoko Kanno!) I want the sountrack....... Y 3,200... that's how much? S$48? Almost 3 times the price of a regular CD. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-----hhhhhhhhh!!!! Me want. *pouts* Electra's seiyuu is pretty *_* Electra herself is pretty cool too. I love Ein. I want a Welsh Corgi pet. The storyline somehow mirrors the world's current situation. It revolves around the plot of bio-terrorism. Or rather, nano-mechas masquerading as biosubstances. I'm not that familiar with the city of New York (never been there, yo!), but the city setting looks very New York and I think I saw two towers that eeriely looked like the two WTC towers. Prolly Americans won't find the movie entertaining though....... I want to make a review for the Club!!! *emails webmaster* Urm, yeah, I'm a huge Cowboy Bebop fan XD XD (just gotta knock a bit harder on heaven's door...) on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, 01:50 p.m. Finally made a new layout for the guestbook. I threw away the frames (I'm getting too fond of tables lately) and as a results, the URL has to go directly to the .cgi file now. I need to change all the links now >_< I haven't touched my guestbook in a long time I didn't know how it worked anymore =P It's still very messy in there... the missing entry checking page is definitely not working properly... >_< So, when you sign, please make sure you fill everything hahaha! I'm too tired after talent time rehearsal now (singing "Aaaaaaa!!!" all through out the song for a dozen times is not very fun) and I still need to type an assingment for tomorrow so I'll fix the guestbook tomorrow. I found Cowboy Bebop Knockin' on Heaven's Door file while looking for the newest Gravi episodes just now. Yippppeeeeeeeee----!!! Yeah, assignment first >.< guestbook has a new layout! on Monday, October 15, 2001, 10:32 p.m. I have a robe! I can role-play being a Hogwarts student now. If only I can find a suitable broom to ride on. Hmmm... A Nimbus 2000 would be nice, yes? ^_^ Actually, the robe is the church choir robe. It's royal purple and it's too big for me. I'm practically sweeping the floor with the hems. But 'tis.... different. LOL. Now I know how it feels to wear one. Before I forgot again, I updated ZS' OVA 2 page a few days ago after a kind email from someone to inform me about something she found in the Sony website. Go take a look at it XD
Steph, Garion, thanks for the comments on Summer Moon. The series is based on an actual historical event and Amakusa is a real historical figure and he's quite famous, so it's no wonder that the name appears often in anime/manga/games/whatever. The background section of SM has a bit of history explanation, if you're interested =D
i wanna go to hogwarts! on Monday, October 15, 2001, 12:12 a.m. Kee, you haven't known me that long, so don't worry about the quiz thing. 'Tis just for fun =D Maddie dear, don't get discourage so soon! As long as you enjoy doing it, it'll be alright. This layout is easier to read, BTW. Tin-sama, dokoooooo? At least I know you're alive from the new files I saw while accessing vr.com's ftp today ^_^ Toshi, just wondering.... should I call you Min now? Oh and while we are on the subject of bubble tea, I happen to be addicted to it XD You wouldn't believe how far I'd go for a cup of it.
Survey snatched from Mia's LJ. Because I'm waiting for my laundry to dry.
Do visit Summer Moon! *plug plug plug* Don't forget to give some comments =D BBS + survey + plug on Saturday, October 13, 2001, 12:33 a.m. Summer Moon is officially open, hosted at seiryuuNu by the wonderful Madison!!! Please visit it and sign the guestbook (which badly needed a new layout and is terribly outdated). Actually the site's been up for a few days, and the only person who has seen it besides me is my gracious host, Madison =D I didn't want to publicize it then because I hadn't finished the translation of chapter 1. I finished it just now and uploaded it, so yes, it's officially open now! XD XD XD Time for dinner now. Will BBS later. Summer Moon is open! on Friday, October 12, 2001, 07:34 p.m. No, I still haven't found my spectacles yet, although I go back there everyday to pester the cleaning aunties about it. I think I charmed their socks off when they found out they could speak Malay to me instead of having to struggle with English. But still, no luck. I'm still very upset about it. I know a pair of spectacles is not a big deal, but I don't know why, I just feel so upset. I'm just so unwilling to let it go ^_^x But I had my CG today and am feeling very hyper afterwards, thanks to my fabulous fellow CG mates. Not to mention tonight was my block's CG supper and it was a dessert supper. I ate so many icecream I'm having a sugar high now @.@ Oh and I had my old pair of specs brought here from Jakarta yesterday, so I think I can manage with it for a couple months until I can make a new one in Jakarta. Yesterday was the Culture Nite, and it was a huge success. It was much better than previous year's, I think. Bohemian Rhapsody went well for us choir although the lead Rockers singer was still so not l33t =P The Dancers were great too. When I was watching them I felt a bit of regret to have quite from the group, but I feel this is for the best. I am still sort of struggling with it now. I am still technically a Dancer member and I've told everyone I've no intention to perform anymore but I can still perform if I want to in future events. Hope everyone's doing well ^_^x It's almost time to start concentrating on my studies soon. I'm lagging behind my own schedule *sigh* And JLPT 2 is still looming *sweatdrop* $|_|94r |-|19|-| on Friday, October 12, 2001, 12:30 a.m. I'm so very very very very very upset =( During Philo midterm exam yesterday I put my specs on the chair beside me, along with my bag. And I think I somehow left it there. I usually don't wear my specs, except when I'm in class because my power is quite small. So naturally I didn't realize I left my specs, thinking it was in my bag. This morning in Writing class I opened my case and there was nothing inside. I've asked the cleaning aunties around the Lecture Theater today and they told me that they'd get back to me later, so I'll be going there again tomorrow morning to hunt down every single cleaner. My specs aren't that expensive, but I don't feel like wasting my money to buy a new one. I'm just so so so so upset and angry at myself. How can I just left it there?!! I think yesterday was my ultimate sloppy day. During the midterm exam I actually used two sheets of paper. The first one was full of mistakes so I used the other one to copy everything down, minus the mistakes. But THEN, I turned in both sheets of paper and I didn't even realized it until I was eating lunch and wondering why the first sheet wasn't in my bag. It's not a big deal, since the first sheet doesn't have my MCQ answers, and I've already emailed my tutor about it. But I should've realized during lunch time that with that kind of carelessness, I had left my specs on the chair as well!!!!!! :( I hope I can find it soon. I love that spectacles' frames, damn it. =( on Tuesday, October 9, 2001, 08:40 p.m. My mother has a kinky taste >_< A couple of weeks ago she came back from Bangkok with a sleeping gown for me. Not that I need a new one. I sleep wearing a sleeping gown because I have loads and I didn't buy any of them myself ^_^; But anyway, I hadn't actually got a good look on it until yesterday. It is white, sleeveless, knee-length, and has cute puppies pattern all over it. What positively made me cringe was the straps on the shoulder. No, not those thin spaghetti straps. They're frills. FRILLS! With white satin bows! BOWS! And not only that, the hemline has frills too! 0.o Really, my mother's favourite piece of clothing to buy me is probably sleeping gowns because she can choose whatever she likes and I'll still wear them because I know not many people will see me. She knows sleeping gowns are safe to buy. Maybe it's her way of fulfilling her motherly desire to have a daughter to dress up @.@ I never did like to be dressed up. Especially with my mother's taste in clothing. She has great taste, really. It's just she sometimes forgets how old I am and what my style is. (But the Winnie the Pooh-patterned sleeping gown is so cute!!) Today was the tech-run for Wednesday's cultural nite. Remember Bohemian Rhapsody? Well, the choir's singing it with the Rockers, but the problem is, the lead singer ain't Freddy Mercury. He's making life difficult for the choir by changing the keys coz he can't reach the high notes in the original key. And THEN, he can't even catch the notes properly. At one point he even had THREE people singing the notes in his face for him to catch while the rest of the band were blasting away. And sometimes it's the choir who clued him on where to sing and what the notes sound like. I guess I should feel a bit sympathy for him. He's trying hard, yes, but he doesn't have any discipline or professionalism. His mobile phone keeps ringing in the middle of practice, an annoying tune that just ruins his (and everyone else's) note and he always picks his calls. He also doesn't seem to notice that there are over 40 people *standing* in one small dusty dirty room waiting for him to get his act going. We have to stretch our vocals above the guitars and drums while he happily sits on a special chair with a mike in front of him, singing all the wrong notes and asking everyone to do it "just one more time".
Anne-nee, I mean, demolish AND rebuild. I'm going to get a space for my own personal library after it's rebuild. Muahahaha. But I can't get a room with my own bathroom :P
Time for bed. Oh, BTW, if I spray insecticide on a lizard, will it have any effect on it? The one I sprayed right now promptly ran away from my room. I hope it won't come back. kimi ni ai ni ikou =D on Tuesday, October 9, 2001, 01:14 a.m. I, uh, went to bed around 10 yesterday. And woke up around 9.30 this morning 0.o But, hey, that's what a weekend is for, right? My mother called me around 12.30 am and she was like, "Honey, dear, do you have your birth cert with you? You do, right? I gave it to you to keep, right? Did I? Did I? Did I? Can you check please? Oh have you checked your bank account yet? Didn't I tell you to do that? Didn't I? Didn't I?" and I kept going "Hhmmmm?" until she finally asked what I had been doing and I told her I was already asleep. I think I took her by surprise since she knows I usually sleep very late. I usually call her very very late too, but she sleeps even later than me ^_^ I guess I have been sorta out-of-balance lately. It's a busy time of the semester and there hasn't been anything particularly *good* to actually brighten me up. Not that there are bad things happening... but well, life just feels very monotonous now. *sigh* Basically I just run around from one place to another, doing the things I have to do, things that I just don't enjoy as much anymore. The boredom can't be help, actually. One just learned how to deal with it, I suppose. One more month... shikariiiiiii~~! Damn, I so need to shop badly....
Anne-nee, I forgot to message you back this afternoon. The reason I asked is because my house is about to be demolish next week, but it's okay, I'll ask them to keep a look out for it. Thanks again XD
I think I remember some people talking about the X calendar. I think I saw the poster at Kino a couple weeks ago. I think it was an order notice or something. Or did it say they were already selling it? *scratch head* Sorry, I told you I've been rather out-of-balance lately. It results in memory failure, you see. Can't remember the poster, but I remember thinking it looks very nice and it definitely caught my eyes (and made me drool for one full minute in front of it). OK, I couldn't find X 1, but things I did find and want to copy and watch: Pretear 1, X-files season 8 episodes, Charmed episodes (please, we're hostelites who are too poor to buy a TV), CCS Memorial video 3 (which is only 4 minutes long @.@), A Knight's Tale (Heath!! *drools*), complete Miyu episodes, and One Piece the movie. *starts deleting files to make space to copy them all* And I haven't even finished watching AL and Noir yet. I get sidetrack easily. *splutters* Shaman King 3! *copies* Hmm.. where's that guy who has South Park and The Simpsons episodes.... *looks around* Have a bloody headache and blurred eyesight. I guess I'll sleep early again tonight. Err, yeah, after I watch some anime ^_^x evening repose on Sunday, October 7, 2001, 09:31 p.m. *singing flatly* I see a little silhouetto of a man scaramouche scaramouche will you do the fandango thunder bolt and lightning very very frightening meeeeeeeeeeee.... galileoooooo galileoooooo galileo figaro magnificooooooooooo........ Tsukarete. Been singing for 8 hours straight, first leading praise and woship for ISCf service and then straight to hall choir practice. My throat feels dry and parched but I have the urge to sing again and again because my voice sounds so nice now ^_^x Too tired to blog about anything. Have 8 am class tomorrow and some articles to read for tomorrow's project meeting and I'm feeling slightly light-headed so.... logging off now. I have another full, packed day tomorrow (and it's Saturday). Gimme my weekenddddddd! *wail* Oh P.S. : I hate Bohemian Rhapsody XP It just ain't my kind of song. Phooey. mamamia let me go!!! on Saturday, October 6, 2001, 12:44 a.m. Hmm-hmm... today's the hall's celebration of Mid Autumn Festival. Even now as I type I can hear people from the neighbouring hall cheering. My hall people are there right now making the annual visit in celebration of Mid Autumn festival. But I have an early class tomorrow and an unfinished homework >_< The moon was very very pretty early tonight. It hung low, large and golden. Mid autumn always gives this kind of romantic, whimsical and sad feeling ^_^; My good friend GC and I would go out every night and just watch the pretty moon and enjoy the cool air because it's been raining every afternoon. Today was also the Anime Club's Graphite manga art competition prize giving ceremony. It was a small affair, but we comm members needed to bring so many heavy things and it just so happened that no guys were around because they all had classes so it was us 6 girls moving up huge display boards up 4 flights of stairs and carrying an amazingly heavy tray of bee hoon across campus. I have no idea bee hoon can be that heavy. My arms are about to fall off now. Anyway, the 1st prize went to our publications chief, whose work was AMAZING. It clearly stands out from the rest. The theme of the competition was "gift" and his work is a picture of a guy and a girl kissing, done with watercolor. The three judges are local comic artists, whose comments on all the pieces were very entertaining to read, as they were filled with many illustrations and SD charas XD I had to miss my Bible study today because I was too busy preparing for the ceremony though =( Ack, bad bad bad. Thank you all for the comments on the layout! Yin thinks the layout looks Evangelion-ish and Yue looks like Kaworu 0.o Hmmm....... maybe a little, I guess.
Kiara, I didn't even noticed the Halloween theme until you pointed it out! We don't really celebrate Halloween here... so it didn't come to my mind that it's almost Halloween =) I'll be waiting for your next new layout ^_^x
I am going to die of exhaustion one of these days. *looks at tomorrow's schedule and doesn't feel like waking up tomorrow at all* And my computer has Nimda virus *disgusted look* All because I full-access-shared my folder so I could do my paper from my friend's room to hang around with her. I'll just clean it tomorrow. *sigh* happy mid autumn! have a mooncake & enjoy the moon! on Friday, October 5, 2001, 01:10 a.m. Uh, yeah, new plain layout. I couldn't stand the previous one anymore and I didn't have a correct mindframe to actually really work on something. I'm just so tired. I got up extra early to finish my paper (in spite of the thunder rain!) and I'm happy that I finished it in time and I think I wrote some pretty decent stuff XD XD Oh, and BTW, I know orange doesn't suit Yue but I'm so sick of pastel colors 0.o Today was pretty much a packed day, although I have no classes at all. Had a project meeting and a little bit of conferencing with the tutor, who gave us useful tips so now we finally know which way we're supposed to be heading. I should say that I thought my group mates seemed to be intimidating at first, the 3 guys and one tough-looking girl, but they actually turned out quite okay. One of the guys was my partner in Econs last sem but somehow I never got to know him that well but today we had a chance to talk a lot and it strikes me how he reminds me of my elder brother. He just has this elder brotherly attitude, always cracking up corny lame jokes and giving me looks of exasperation when I questioned his logic. And it turned out that he does have a younger sister after all. He seemed to think I need a boyfriend, though I really don't LOL
Ah, I'm glad things seems to be moving smoothly in here. Nice to meet everyone, especially Tien and Mika!
BTW, does anyone has the lyrics to Noir's Salva Nos? All this time I'm learning it just by mumbling or humming @.@ I think I better learn Canta Per Me first..... feeling orange on Wednesday, October 3, 2001, 09:09 p.m. |
